| Well Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji) intended for boys. It is shonen manga, which means it is geared for males roughly 10 to 18, this one in particular is more in the 16 - 20 range. It doesn't seem like it would be intended for boys to me though, seems like more of a girl manga, but whatever. Model is a manwha (Korean manga) geared for boys, it was the first comic, other than the funny pages, I ever read. I didn't know how I was supposed to read it then becuase I was unfamiliar with the right to left reading style so I was all over the place. Also, I read the volumes out of order. (I read it correctly more recently) But, that is another of my favs. Pandora Hearts is my current second favorite manga (right under Black Butler.) It's shonen. Still, seems more gear towards girls! I love the Nabari No Ou and Soul Eater mangas and animes, those are both shonen. =D I really don't know why, but I love these so much! I also like shojo manga (literally "comics for girls") too! I love Fruits Basket and Vampire Knight, but for the most part I read manga geared toward men. Maybe men just read more femine stories in Japan? =D |
| Anime Corrupting Me? Is it true? I am claimed by my family to have an addiction. My mom yells at me for it. She claims I always talk about anime/manga when there were actually times I have talked about reality( despite it being rarely which I'm trying to improve on talking about reality more often). She even claims the only time I read is when I read manga. (I have read novels without pictures. Ex. Daughters of the moon, Harry Potter 1-4, etc). I get so hurt I start to talk less than I actually do. I only go to deviantart, facebook, and fanfiction, each 3-7 minutes, then do homework (cause to help me reduce stress when I come back from school). My brother and mother overemphasize, saying I've done it for hours (especially when it's not true) and assume I watch anime on the computer (when I stopped 2 months ago, dammit!). She thinks watching anime/reading comics/manga is for guys and it spoils your brain. Even if I say/show why it's not meant for guys and how it doesn't, she wouldn't care or bother listening. Also one problem, I've seen my family saying 'I don't care' a lot and whenever I say I don't care, they start yelling at me saying I should. I don't treat anime like my life; I know it's just for entertainment, but hey, can't I like something? I don't watch anime/manga when I sulk, I write depressing poetry ( I already watched 14 different ones as well as 5-7 western shows why more). Only time I look at anime is when it's an AMV (I'm mostly into the music by the way) or a fanart/fic (which even that is only 2-5 minutes), otherwise, like my brother, I look at some songs worth listening to on the internet. Now, my dad on the other hand, just tells me to do it less often but keep that like and don't make it your life, which I try not to make anime/manga my life. My mom says I need exercise. I am doing martial arts, percussion (mridangam), music (karnatic), spanish in virtual school, school homework (1 AP class), etc. I only took mridangam to make my parents happy, not for my interest.I claim I never get the time for exercise due to these activities but my mom rejects that, blaming anime for me not being able to get time to exercise. She blames anime, claiming that it "corrupted" me. It gets annoying when something FICTIONAL is getting blamed, even when it's not true. I always get suicidal thoughts (me getting stabbed or shooting myself) because of this and when I write something depressing in poetry or writing in any form, my mom just laughes me, claiming AGAIN that anime caused me to say all those things (again, not true). Anime never made me a tomboy, asexual, celibate, future crossdresser, have negative thoughts most of the time, etc. She claims that I should be more of a girl than a guy in a girl's body(I'm not planning on a sex change by the way, too risky and expensive). I told her being a girl is a bilogical thing not a mental thing but she still doen't care. I feel like a guy in a girl's body, regardless. My heart is starting to close each day.There might be a point where it might take YEARS to open that same heart. I might even feel emotionless and dead in the inside (more or or less a future heartless person) I feel like I need to go see a psycharitrist or counselor for something like this. Any advice on reducing the anime addiction (if I have one) or pretty much any advice that correlates to what I said? P.S. I am a 9th grade Indian-American anime fan (for those that care). My parents are both Asian (Indian counts as asian, your point?). I don't really talk much unless asked to talk about a certain topic. |
| Sounds like you have very controlling people in your life, and you are trying way too hard to please them. Trust me, it won't ever work. Even if you give up everything you love, they will still keep trying to control you and finding fault. Stop trying so hard to fit their expectations. Instead, develop the life YOU want and learn to be more independent. YOU DO NOT NEED THEIR APPROVAL. Learn to ignore them and their criticism, before you grow up filled with anger at what you gave up trying to please someone who will never be pleased. Spend as much time as you can away from those people, and start working part-time as early as you can, so that as soon as you are old enough to move away from home, you can do it. You have to think about what YOU want to do with your life, and not let anyone dictate it to you. Emotional and financial dependence are easy to fall into, especially when you've been hammered with disapproval all your life. It's a trap--get out fast! |
| Am I overreacting? I want sex everyday, hubby says he does? My husband and I have been living together for 4 months now after being apart for the first year and 3 months of marriage - he is in the military and I was finishing grad school in another state.
